GR50 - Etapa 5: Adrão (Sr. da Paz) ➔ Mezio
GR50 - Peneda-Gerês Long-distance Path - Stage 5: Adrão (Sr. da Paz) ➔ Mezio
Stage 5 of the GR50 - Peneda-Gerês Long-distance Path links Adrão, near Senhor da Paz, to the Mezio Gate, in the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez. With approximately 8.5 km, it crosses a transition area between the Peneda and Soajo mountains, marked by granite, woodland, streams, agricultural paths and old places linked to mountain pastoralism.
The landscape of this stage reveals different forms of mountain occupation, from cattle brandas to agricultural fields, stone walls, mountain pens and old forest houses. Among the most relevant places is the Branda de Bordença, where remains of buildings used seasonally during the warmer months still stand, and the Ínsuas de Soajo, with old shelters associated with pastoral activity.
Along the route, the surroundings alternate between valleys, hills, forest areas and more open mountain areas. The contrasts of local rural life are visible in cultivated fields, pastures, restored houses and signs of abandonment in some traditional settlements.
The arrival at the Mezio Gate allows visitors to discover one of the main reception, information and interpretation spaces in this area of the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
