GR57 - Etapa 4

GR57 - Ria de Aveiro Long-distance path - Blue Route - Stage 4: Cais do Carregal (Ovar) ➔ São Jacinto (Aveiro) / Forte da Barra (Ílhavo)

Stage 4 of the GR57 - Ria de Aveiro Long-distance Path links Cais do Carregal, in Ovar, to São Jacinto, in Aveiro, following the sandy strip that separates the Ria de Aveiro from the Atlantic Ocean.

This section follows the coastal strip between the ria and the sea, in an area marked by the constant presence of the Ria de Aveiro. The Atlantic Ocean lies on the opposite side of the dune cordon, which shapes this peninsula.

Due to the characteristics of the surface, this stage is especially suitable for cycle touring. In São Jacinto, the route approaches the São Jacinto Dunes Nature Reserve, a protected area associated with this dune system.

At the end of the stage, in São Jacinto, there is a ferry connection to Forte da Barra, allowing continuity to the next stage of the GR57.
