GR58 - Etapa 8

GR58 E9 - Ria de Aveiro Long-distance path - Golden Route - Stage 8: Sangalhos (Anadia) ➔ Palhaça (Oliveira do Bairro)

Stage 8 of the GR58 links Sangalhos, in the municipality of Anadia, to Palhaça, in the municipality of Oliveira do Bairro. As part of the Golden Route of the Ria de Aveiro Long-Distance Route, it crosses small settlements, rural paths, municipal roads, forest areas and agricultural fields, gradually approaching Pateira de Fermentelos. One of the central elements of this stage is the presence of Pateira de Fermentelos, considered the largest natural lagoon in the Iberian Peninsula. Before reaching its shores, the route passes through Sangalhos, where the Aliança Underground Museum stands out, housed in the cellars of Aliança Vinhos de Portugal and dedicated to several permanent collections, alongside the world of wines, sparkling wines and spirits. The stage then approaches the Cértima River, following it to the area where it spreads out near the Pateira. Around the Carreiro Velho Riverside Park, the landscape gains a more natural and riverside character, with leisure areas, vegetation associated with water and views over the lagoon. Along the western bank of the Pateira, the route runs between the cultivated fields of Fermentelos and the riparian vegetation that precedes the water surface. In the final part, it continues through production woodland, settlements and agricultural areas, passing by the Main Church of Oiã before approaching the village of Palhaça.
