The Alto Coura Crossing Long-distance Trail crosses the municipality of Paredes de Coura through a landscape combining mountain areas, agricultural land, rural settlements and built heritage. The route starts in the Corno do Bico Protected Landscape and passes through some of the places that best represent the natural and cultural diversity of the Alto Coura region.
In the first part, the route passes through woodland and mountain areas, including the Corno do Bico oak woodland, the Chã do Bento Viewpoint and the Lameiro das Cebolas. The landscape alternates between wooded slopes, mountain meadows and more open areas, offering different perspectives over the surrounding territory.
Throughout the traverse, there are also numerous traces of traditional rural life in the Alto Coura. The Chã de Lamas Agricultural Colony, Lagoa da Salgueirinha, the Porreiras Mill Group and the Porreiras Community Threshing Floor reveal different ways in which the rural landscape was organised and used. Among these features, the mills and communal structures retain a particularly strong connection with the traditional agricultural activities of the villages.
The route also passes places and buildings that help illustrate the local history, including Palacete Miguel Dantas, the Chapel of São Lourenço and Casa de Santa Ana da Seara. Between natural areas, villages and rural heritage, the GR67 offers a broad view of the Alto Coura landscape, bringing together different aspects of the history, culture and traditions of Paredes de Coura.
