The Mountain Long-distance Path - Ponte de Lima Stage crosses the mountainous area in the north of the municipality, linking the foothills of Serra d'Arga with the border with Arcos de Valdevez. Along the 36 km stage, the landscape changes between woodland, agricultural valleys, villages and open slopes, with the Lima valley shaping much of the scenery.
This stage of the GR2 passes the wolf pit at Alto do Cavalinho, a traditional structure designed to capture wolves. As the stage continues, the landscape opens towards the valley and mountain villages, with paths, wayside crosses, roadside shrines and traditional houses forming part of the surrounding landscape.
In the area of Rendufe and Labrujó, the Labruja stream accompanies the route between agricultural terraces and water channels. These fields on the mountain slopes were shaped over generations to increase the land available for cultivation, creating a landscape in which water and agriculture define the organisation of the slopes.
As it approaches Cruz Vermelha, the terrain becomes more open and elevated, with free-roaming garrano horses often appearing in the landscape. These native horses, associated with the mountains of north-western Portugal, are one of the most characteristic elements of the wildlife and landscape of this stage of the GR2.
