PR1 VVD - Trilho do Vale Suspenso do Rio Vade

The Vale Suspenso do Rio Vade Trail is a circular pedestrian route spanning 12 km, located in the municipality of Vila Verde, Braga. With a considerable level of difficulty (level III), this trail provides an authentic and challenging experience, unveiling the historical and natural richness of Alto Minho. The adventure begins with the ford crossing of the Rio Vade, leading us to an idyllic rural setting. Throughout the journey, we traverse ancient church paths and village streets, reaching the Monte Balcão. Here, the landscape of Alto Minho unfolds magnificently, offering a breathtaking panoramic view. From Monte Balcão, the trail proceeds towards the Vale Suspenso da Nóbrega, a magical place where the rocks create a unique landscape. Along the ridge, with elevations ranging from a minimum of 386 m to impressive altitudes of 750 m. On the descent, the trail passes through Casais de Vide, a rural village with a rich religious heritage. Here, we can visit churches, chapels, and granaries, witnessing the devotion of the mountain people. The ascent to Castelo de Aboim is a moment of particular beauty. This castle, now in ruins, provides a panoramic view of the entire region. The descent towards Pequenina, an ancient rural ensemble, is carried out through rural landscape paths, where secular groves punctuate the Bocage Landscape.
