PR14 - The Magical Village is one of the most iconic trails in the Arouca Geopark. It leads hikers to Drave, an uninhabited village nestled between the Freita, São Macário, and Arada mountain ranges. This linear route, approximately 4 km in length (8 km out-and-back), begins near the Chapel of Santo Amaro in the village of Regoufe and is moderately difficult. Hikers cross stunning mountainous landscapes along the way, with panoramic views over deep valleys and lush vegetation. Upon reaching Drave, a unique scene is revealed: ruined schist houses, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Saúde, and the Solar dos Martins, currently used by the Portuguese Scouting Association. The Palhais stream, with its crystal-clear waters, offers natural pools perfect for a refreshing dip on warmer days. This trail is recommended year-round and is especially charming in spring, when nature is at its most vibrant. Suitable footwear, water, and snacks are advised, particularly due to sun exposure in some parts of the route. This trail is part of our special "Must-Do Trails" selection, standing out for its natural beauty, cultural richness, and the unique experience it offers to all who explore it. Start: Chapel of Regoufe. End: Drave.
