PR15 PTL - Trilho do Pé do Negro

The PR15 PTL - Pé do Negro Trail (Trilho do Pé do Negro) is a moderate loop short route starting next to the Bárrio e Cepões Parish Council, in Ponte de Lima. The route crosses a rural landscape shaped by the valley of the Mestre River, also known as the Labruja River.

Along the route there are several elements linked to water and to former uses of the land. Poço do Pé do Negro is one of the most relevant places on the trail, associated with former structures used for timber sawing, flax processing, cereal milling and an unfinished small hydropower project.

The route also follows old paths between villages, mixed woodland areas, agricultural zones and small rural settlements. Along the banks of the Mestre River there are remains of mills and traditional crossings, such as Ponte da Varziela, which help frame the relationship between the local population, water and agriculture.

On the higher part of the trail, the landscape opens over the valley and allows views of the terraces and several reference points in the surrounding area, including places close to the Corno de Bico Protected Landscape. Religious heritage is present in several chapels along the route, linked to local traditions and festivities.
