A circular route between waterfalls and the landscapes of the Tua Valley

The PR18 ALJ - Ribeira de São Mamede de Ribatua Boardwalks Trail takes place within the Vale do Tua Regional Natural Park, starting and ending next to the Alijó Entrance Gateway, in São Mamede de Ribatua. It is a circular trail that passes through some of the most emblematic streets of the village, including the Jardim das Laranjeiras, before heading towards the Roman Bridge over the São Mamede stream. The route incorporates the Ribeira de São Mamede de Ribatua Boardwalks, following the stream to the São Mamede de Ribatua Pier. Along the trail, waterfalls, riverside areas and views over the Tua River valley stand out, connected to the agricultural landscape and built heritage of the region. The return to the starting point is marked by the landscapes of the Alto Douro Wine Region, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known for its characteristic terraced vineyards.
