The Green Riverside Trail runs around the Queimadela Reservoir, combining wooded shores, small watercourses and rural paths. The water remains a constant presence along much of the route, while the vegetation creates different environments along the shoreline.
The woodland includes oak, pine, eucalyptus, poplar and alder, creating cool and shaded areas where birds and other wildlife are frequently found. Near the watercourses, wetter habitats also occur, with characteristic vegetation and small waterfalls.
The rural landscape becomes particularly distinctive when the route passes through the village of Repúlo, where traditional features such as threshing floors, espigueiros, houses and grapevine-covered structures are still preserved. These elements contrast with the surrounding woodland and reflect the continuity between agricultural areas and the natural spaces around the reservoir.
Near the Vizela River, the route also passes through a cooler and more shaded area before reaching the river waterfalls. The former water channel and picnic area complete a short trail where the reservoir, woodland and rural landscape remain present until the return to the starting point.
