PR4 SRP - Rota do Montado de Azinho
The PR4 SRP - Montado de Azinho Route takes place in the surroundings of Pias, offering a circular trail that crosses landscapes typical of the Alentejo region, dominated by the presence of montado.
Starting near Largo de Santo António, the route initially passes through the urban area, where local heritage elements stand out, such as the 19th-century bell tower. It then quickly leads into natural areas characterized by cork oak woodlands and prominent granite formations.
Along the way, the landscape alternates between forested sections, agricultural land, and traditional olive groves, reflecting the balance between nature and human activity. Highlights include the passage through Herdade de Carapinhos and other rural areas that showcase the region’s productive character.
The trail also crosses the village of Vale de Vargo, where points of interest such as the 17th-century Church of São Sebastião can be found, before returning to more natural surroundings.
In the final section, the route passes near the Enxoé reservoir, adding a distinctive scenic element to the experience. Combining montado, granite landscapes, and agricultural areas, this trail offers a varied and representative journey through the Alentejo countryside.
