The Against the Current Towards the Weir trail starts at Mosteiro River Beach and follows the Ribeira de Pera and the irrigation system of the Schist Village of Mosteiro towards the Açude da Boiça weir. Along the way, the trail passes the ruins of old watermills and an olive-oil press, evidence of how water was used for grinding grain and supporting local agriculture.
Near the starting point, a restored watermill retains its original appearance, while a former olive-oil press has been converted into a restaurant and bar serving the river beach. These structures illustrate the importance of the Ribeira de Pera in the region's traditional activities.
