PR IX - Trilho Interpretativo de Lamas de Mouro
An interpretive trail worth every step
The PR IX - Lamas de Mouro Interpretive Trail is a circular route starting and ending near the Lamas de Mouro Gate, one of the entrances to the Peneda-Gerês National Park. This space serves as a reception, information and environmental education point, helping visitors understand the territory before starting the walk.
The route crosses a small forested area and approaches the Mouro River, before continuing towards the village of Lamas de Mouro. Along the trail, the natural landscape is combined with elements linked to mountain community life, in a settlement whose origins date back to the Middle Ages.
In the village, several granite-built features stand out, such as the Porto-Ribeiro bridge, the old sundial, the mill, the communal oven and the religious temple that also served neighbouring villages. These elements help illustrate the traditional organisation of the community and its relationship with local resources.
In the final part, the trail opens onto a landscape of low scrub and mountain areas, with the Peneda mountain range as a backdrop. Despite its short length, it allows visitors to observe different environments, including forest, riparian gallery, mountain areas and low vegetation, reflecting the natural and landscape diversity of this area of the national park.
