GR Travessia da Ribeira Minho

The GR Travessia da Ribeira Minho is a linear Long Distance Trail with a branch route that crosses the Minho Valley, linking the Lamas de Mouro Gate of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, in Melgaço, to the Minho River Aquamuseum, in Vila Nova de Cerveira. With approximately 95.7 km, it crosses the municipalities of Melgaço, Monção, Valença and Vila Nova de Cerveira, in a traverse that begins in a mountain setting and gradually progresses towards mid-slope areas, riverside lowlands and areas close to the Minho River.

Along the route, the landscape combines forest areas, vineyards, agricultural fields, small settlements and riverside margins strongly connected to Minho identity. The trail approaches places associated with Alvarinho wine, old communication routes, traditional fishing areas, river fishing structures and religious and rural heritage scattered across the valley slopes and riverbanks.

Due to its length, this route is best completed in stages. The Coura-Minho branch also provides a connection between the Minho Ecotrail, in Vila Nova de Cerveira, and the GR67 - Alto Coura Crossing Long-Distance Trail, in Paredes de Coura.
