The PR1.1 BNV - Benavente Circuit is a shorter variant of the Lezírias Route, allowing walkers to complete a circular trail starting and ending in Benavente.
With around 9 km, this circuit follows the rural surroundings of the locality, crossing agricultural paths, areas close to the Vale do Sorraia irrigation canal and landscapes associated with the open floodplains of the lezírias.
The presence of water is one of the central elements of the trail, marked by irrigation channels, agricultural fields and embankments that characterise this territory. The landscape reflects the strong connection between agriculture, the river and traditional water management systems.
Along the walk, it is possible to observe characteristic elements of the agricultural landscape of Benavente, including rice fields, scattered cork oak woodland and areas favourable to birdwatching. Among the species associated with this territory are the grey heron, white stork and common kestrel.
This circuit is a shorter option for those who want to discover part of the Lezírias Route without completing the full route, while keeping contact with the main natural and rural elements that characterise this area of Ribatejo.
